Arizona Photos

I have traveled to 47 states, lived in 9 of them, and visited another 11 countries… but for sheer beauty I don’t think I have seen any place that matches Arizona.

The starkness of the landscape, the textures of mountain and ocotillo, the grand consequence of mountains and water and wind, the surprising green of the palo verde or the shocking color of wildflowers on the desert floor, the anthropomorphic qualities of the saguaros… and of course the magnificent sunsets. I first visited Arizona at the age of 5, and have returned many, many times since – each and every time with at least one or two photographs that were probably better than I had any ability, or right, to take.
